Open call for Midwinter Exhibition

Art-ology is pleased to announce an open call for Midwinter, an exhibition at Jefferson Hub in Midtown, Detroit. 

Winter can bring isolation and melancholy, but can also be a time for internal expansion, building new traditions, fostering kinship and connecting with Michigan’s frigid landscape in quiet and unexpected ways.

We are interested in work across any media that connects with Michigan’s winter landscape through materiality or theme, explores the subversion or expansion of seasonal traditions or considers winter as a site of ritual, transformation and gathering.

The call is open to any artists working across Michigan. Preference will be given to artists based in or with strong ties to Detroit.

Applications open: August 10-September 4,2026

Art-ology will provide pedestals for 3-D work and easels for 2-D work. Installations will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with consideration of space constraints and installation logistics. 

Note: Jefferson Hub is a co-working space serving a wide range of Detroit businesses. We encourage thoughtful exploration of challenging subject matter, but cannot accept work depicting violence or explicit sexual content.
